OUR MISSION

As musicians and artists ourselves, we understand the importance of artistic expression beyond words. Free Music Collective strives to be a space where artists can explore and develop their craft while staying true to their unique voices. Our commitment to the community drives everything we do, as we work to uplift and support Vallejo’s diverse array of artists and musicians.

OUR STORY

Founded in 2020, Free Music Collective has platformed over 300 individual artists, musicians, and industry professionals from Vallejo and beyond. We are dedicated to nurturing local talent and have provided the community with more than 50 safe and friendly musical events. These events range from intimate performances to larger festivals, all focused on bringing people together through the power of music.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND HIGHLIGHTS

Free Music Collective continues to platform an eclectic array of talented artists from all walks of life, ensuring that Vallejo’s music scene remains vibrant and diverse. Our work has been recognized in various media outlets, including a feature in the Vallejo Sun and Vallejo Times-Herald, which praised our commitment to revitalizing live music and our community-first approach.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

Our commitment extends beyond music. We’ve partnered with numerous local organizations and businesses, ensuring that our work benefits not only the artists but the broader Vallejo community. Notably, we were featured in the Vallejo Sun for our role in the resurgence of live music and hip-hop in the city. The newspaper also highlighted our campaign to help “Save Los Amigos Taqueria”, an effort demonstrating our dedication to supporting local businesses in need.

Jameelah Hanif (Community Connector)

From the vibrant streets of Oakland to the heart of Vallejo, a powerful voice for equity, resilience, and community transformation has emerged. A single mother, entrepreneur, and lifelong advocate for children and families, she brings lived experience and bold vision to every endeavor. Her mission centers on dismantling systemic disparities, advancing trauma-informed care, and building pathways to healing and opportunity.

As CEO of Watch Me Grow Child Care, Consulting, and the nonprofit Watch Me Grow, Inc., she leads with passion and purpose—whether delivering quality early learning, training parents and providers, or driving grassroots policy change. Her dream, the Watch Me Grow Community Development Center, stands as a future hub of hope for Vallejo’s youth and families.

Her impact stretches across the Bay Area, earning recognition from the Golden State Warriors, Bay Area Black Joy Parade, City of Vallejo, and Solano County leaders. Honored as “Woman of the Year” by both the Solano Commission for Women & Girls and Congressman John Garamendi, she continues to empower communities, foster healing, and ignite lasting change.
